Having an issue with fuel tanks, 96 classic with a Detroit. Truck is feeding off of passenger tank, but returning fuel to drivers tank. Any suggestions. No fuel shut off valve. should the fuel lines be replaced or just blow out. Seems like the pickup might be clogged on the drivers side, and the return on the passenger side. was working fine.

Make sure your fuel tank vents are clean and not clogged. If one or both get clogged with junk it causes funny things to happen.
-
actually on last trip we had to connect the fuel vents so the fuel would cross over to passenger side. it worked enough to get us home.
-
Did you look under cab on drivers side for pull rods that cut fuel off an on to each tank, the fuel dis. return valve is mounted on top of trans. follow lines till you find it and buy new not rebuilt one.

So the fuel is not returning to passenger tank?
They may be collapsing inside where you can't see what is happening. Remove, disconnect both return lines and see if both are flowing.
Hard to do the same for the supply lines. You can pressurize your tanks with air to see if the fuel flows up the supply lines. I have checked mine that way.
One of your "T" s could have blockage also.
Good luck. -
ok, disconnected lines, blew them out, then reconnected and pressurized tanks, everything seems to be working
