I'm soon about to graduate driving school. I want to know if there's any dump truck companies out there that hire student drivers. I've looked all on here and couldn't find anything that answers my question. So please feel free to comment. @Chinatown I sure could use your expertise.
Dump Truck instead of an 18-wheeler.

Dump trucks from my day are small family operations with like 4 people as ours were. It's not exactly great for "Training" because a dump does not behave quite like a tractor trailer. You will get trained if that is what you want. Just always remember.. when that road is wet, she is gonna slide if you brake to hard empty.
I cooked my DAC too hot for OTR, small time paving and stone in a local family Dump work for a while saved me.Ke6gwf, tscottme and Vintage Pablo Thank this. -
Dump jobs usually don't advertise. Best to look at yellowpages.com and Google. Plenty of them around and some do hire new cdl grads.
Try APAC which is paving outfit. Some want 2 yrs. experience but often hire new grads as trainees.Vintage Pablo and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I'm positive that's what I want to do. If only I can find a company.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Look in the phone book for people who do paving etc. They are not as China town said doing advertising you might have gotten accustomed to.
Be prepared to leave home prior to sunrise and stay out in the thing until you cannot see anymore.
Whatever the boss pays you each week, PUT a percentage AWAY, come fall and winter you will be sent to unemployment to get half pay or less until next spring with a focus on staying fit and strong ready to work again when the phone rings.Ke6gwf and Vintage Pablo Thank this. -
I'll make sure to look into it. Here in Little Rock I see at least 50 dump trucks a day.

Some paving companies such as APAC work 24/7 if doing interstate highway paving.Vintage Pablo Thanks this.
