That's fair. Everything has options. And sometimes that is the option.
I once was bobtailing in South Indy coming up on that famous Pilot stop with the strip bar across the street and found that both exit lanes were full of cars in my lane stopped. I bounced the bobtail onto the shoulder and slammed the service brake to the floor. It took 14 cars to stop on the shoulder.
14 cars I rather not ram into. If I had a load it would been 40. And I wont be here. Sitting in the pokey.
Great save!

I wonder with it on camera...can u turn it into the police and get action taken against that driver? Wreck less endangerment or something ?
-
I don't see why not. It's absolutely a provoked accident by the 4 wheeler going all the way over cutting off everything.
I would contact the Law down there and let them have the look see. See if they can fix it right quick.
In my town the Law is right there on facebook, they get a eyeful of that... they will get it rolling.
If you aint got a good camera, put one in tonight. It's worth a thousand hesaids shesaids but but but... -
I dunno about being able to get a positive ID on that car. Maybe a lab could bring up that license number, but my computer sure couldn't.
I'm of the opinion that the trucker should have nailed the SOB. But the fact is, that absolutely NORMAL reaction, is to try to avoid hitting someone/thing. Unfortunately, if you have not trained yourself to overcome those NORMAL reactions, you are sooner or later going to be in big trouble.A21CAV, tucker, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's a different situation entirely. You're talking about YOUR OWN inattention leading up to the potential wreck, and in that case, you're correct in that it is up to YOU to do what you have to do in order to spare INNOCENT lives. In the video linked by the OP, that is simply not the case. The car pulled a bone-headed move that placed others in jeopardy when those others went out of their way to spare the life of the bonehead that kicked off the whole series of events. Bonehead should have got creamed, all trucks held their lane, and sort out the details when the cops show up. Especially with the dash cam, there isn't much doubt as to what happened. It's why I run one myself...no more "he said/she said" if the unthinkable ever happens.QuietStorm and x1Heavy Thank this.

I hate to admit this,.. but that is my attitude. If someone if going to cause me to wreck,.. they are coming with me and they will know it.

There is many people unused to the fight or flee sitaution that dumps chemicals into the body and spins the mind while they sit there visually processing frozen in place doing nothing while time slips out like sands in a hour glass.
Then there are those who do this kind of save often enough to know what to do when something like this comes up. Or try to anyway.
The danger lies in myown self. If the people around us are really nasty and cut off with middle finger as they do sometimes, I have no problem driving the trunk into their front seats. KLUNK! Be but a bump to me and maybe some fire.... oh so solly bad driver got too close... no room to stop.
I say this for that save driver, language language language. He cut it off and got to work before that tractor came round too far.Big Don Thanks this. -
I'll do my best to keep from killing the idiot, but my odds are way better than his.

I hope there was a Walmart nearby, as both truckers will be visiting the men's dept. Now, I by no means am taking the 4 wheeler's side, but I think the driver ( with the camera) hesitated just a second too long. They must have known the car was getting off. I know it happens fast, and can't believe there was no contact. And kudos to the other driver, for seeing what was going on and hit the median ( clearly empty, or that trailer would have gone over). Dash cam,,,wouldn't drive a truck without one these days.
