If we get a climate after the election that is friendly to business owners I may look into getting a truck again.
If not...well...Costa Rica is supposed to be really nice....bigred81 Thanks this. -
Another trip planner thinks this truck is secretly a TARDIS.
Got a load this morning 0900 to travel 95 miles to Hamilton MS to pick up a load going to Cleveland area, due tomorrow morning 0700. That's about 800 miles total. In one driving shift.
Dispatch told me to get it there by noon and I should be all right.
Fine.
Then the first 200 miles was side and country roads. After that, Nashville rush hour happened. For dessert, I-65 north bound got shut down by a construction project for over an hour.
So here I lie in my Fruit of the Looms, having shut down about 90 minutes and 90 miles sooner than I planned because of the delays, anxiously awaiting morning when I get to tell my dispatcher that I'll be lucky to get the load to receiver by 1630.
I'm tired. I'm going to sleep.RERM, Knucklehead, bigred81 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The good: 640 miles yesterday and 645 scheduled for today. 630 scheduled for tomorrow.
The bad: bouncing off my recap. Only picking up 8 hours tonight. Planners can't read and dispatcher not helping. Gonna have to break the news in the morning since nobody there today.
The ugly: --Well, my face. I'm just going to have to accept the fact. I am attractively impaired. I'm a differently appealing American. I have a great personality.
The plan: Run my hours out today and call in first thing in the morning to break the news. I've gotten #### before for this type of thing, even though I'm not the one doing the dispatching.
My endurance and patience for this type of nonsense got all used up over at Celadon. I'll accept responsibility for my screw ups, but not for somebody else's.
I may be experiencing leftover paranoia from trying to make it work at Celadon. Will update in a day or two.
NOTE TO SELF: When making the call, do not use video. Remember the ugly. -
Did Big M give you crap over needing a reset?
Had my own dispatcher try to send me back out today. On Friday he calls and says that I can go back out today. I said "with only 7 hrs on my 70"? He replied that I will have had my reset by then. At that exact moment I was in Walton, KY at the J at 1500. 1.5 hrs left to drive for the day. I really believed that they looked at my hours before making such decisions. It worked out. I leave tomorrow morning with a fresh 70. Nice to he home and out of the truck after 7 days and 3,600 miles. -
My hometime is MY time. I head back out when I am sufficiently recovered to do my job safely annd with a degree of satisfaction. Dispatch wants to complain and snivel? Screw'em. I was looking for a job when I found this one, and they're not all that hard to find.
Captain Zoom Thanks this. -

It has been a battle of wills every time I try to get a reset or time off.

Nope. All smiles and happy happy when I'm busting my nuts off but when I need something (which isn't often) its push push push and maybe he'll forget what he wanted to do.
My medical card expired because of this and I had to sit for two days.
Now I'm getting 62mph dispatches (truck does 65 max). I don't need this along with my other headaches.
