I think it honestly comes down to what you want out of your career. Money is key but not everything. Before I came here I explored local jobs in the D/FW area and the pay was just horrid. Mostly $9.00 to $15.00 an hour with 14 hour days 5 to 6 days a week... I know my worth and just won't work for that little. I decided that if I was going to make that little to still not see my family all that much i'd rather just be on the road and make more. For me it made sense.

The other part is how i'm treated. I'd definitely take a pay cut of a small percentage to be treated well.. and so far the company has done that for me. Obviously mileage varies by driver but 50% of that treatment is your attitude... and over the years I've learned to harness my hostility and just roll with whatever the situation may be. Some days are good and others are bad... but it's all in how you approach it.. and how you treat others that will dictate how the company treats you. Yes, some will be bad no matter what.. but thankfully we have the choice to leave and go elsewhere.

I've only been here for almost 2 months, and i'm no cheerleader for any company, but I can say that i'm happy... and I just started my 8th year of driving, 6th as an OTR driver, and spent time at a few companies that were worse in van, reefer, and flatbed companies. There are quirks you have to get used to but, overall, MY experience has been positive. Like I said.. it just comes down to what you want out of your career. There is no right answer when it comes to that because, obviously, everyone has different needs.

The Dallas guys have the best dispatchers outside of the Pole Fleet according to my spies. 9:p)
I'm glad you're happy there. I have no beef with System at all. They gave me fantastic training, my first shot at driving and did everything they promised to do. Not my 1st recommendation for experienced drivers, but if it's working for you, more power to ya!
