To the OP, if you change your mind and decide to go flatbed, TMC and Maverick have probably the best training in the business. Neither are companies that I would recommend trying to make a career at. But, if you've absolutely no experience flatbedding, you couldn't go wrong with either starting out.
How bad is TMC ?

Melton also has a pretty intensive securement training program. From what i hear anyway.

I have pulled van, flat and tankers and I doubt I'll ever leave the tanker world. You would probably enjoy it and the money is good. I work for Trimac, got my start at Schneider Bulk.

I'd check into boyd bros if you was dead set on flatbed. I was out of chattanooga, was always busy and always home on wkends. Ya you dont look as good going down the highway, but that wont matter to ya once your otr for 6 months. I worked just as hard at both tmc and boyd, made more money with boyd, and got home more often. Nice, respectable "southern" folk as dispatchers, you will feel more at home with boyd, not just another number like tmc.

How long were you with TMC?
-
7 months.

feb 2010 to sept 2010. Im sure some people have had a good experience with tmc, and mine WAS 6 years ago i know.. Things may be different now, but the experience i had was terrible. Good training, maybe just a bad dispatcher? Definatley better employers out there though.

I also transitioned from the military back into driving with TMC. I actually did quite well with them. I worked with them for about 3 years before I went O/O for myself. I ran out of the NE and made anywhere from 900 to 1500 bring home every week. Good equipment. Overall it was a positive experience for me.Pontimaniac Thanks this.

I have 4 months OTR with Swift. A 100% on time rating and no accidents or speeding issues. Do you think anyone in Savannah would hire me? I am a team player for sure.
Chinatown Thanks this.
