He drives "till his eyeballs pop out!" I believe that is how John puts it anyway.

Sounds like you need to switch to one of those day cabs. There's one parked in front of our terminal now.

    JohnBoy and WotansVolkman Thank this.

II was told you had to be bobtail, but no clue if that is a company rule (ala offduty 45mins) or a DOT rule. Despite 3 different drivers telling me it was ok I was still watching the mirrors for blue lights ready to haul me off to log violation jail.

I'm the same way. After I drop this I will only be 5 hrs from home. Since I am running recap I will have only driven for a few hours and be out of time for the day. But I will be crossing state borders and I am really not I interested in starting HT on the wrong foot.

I agree 100% but you gotta wonder what's behind it all. I mean, everyone here including myself has had a delay or two in getting home "the day" requested but, they get there without fighting over it ... no?

If it will be during office hours I would call safety and ask being sure to let them know that you were heading home. The hooked to a trailer and crossing state lines might put a kink in things.

That's always been a bit of a gray area for me personally. With OO's that own their trailers it's rather clear that they wouldn't drop the box and leave it somewhere so yes, of course it goes with them.

I simply default to the "not under dispatch" rule so even if I have a box in tow, I'll go where I need to logged out. But I think as Redtwin said, it may be a matter of company policy versus DOT regs. The company can obviously institute any rules they deem fit over and above any DOT regs so long as they don't conflict.

Since we're on the subject it's worth looking into both. I will as I'm now curious. :)

Todays hp unload should be interesting, and not in a good way. Im at the same place in jersey i took my manhatten coolers to. The 'warehouse' is a bunch of old trailers. I really hope they know how many coolers are on this truck because last time they didnt and i had alot less!
