Sleep Apnea Test?

So today we had our DOT Physicals. Let me start off by saying I have had my class B CDL for quite a long time, and have been driving with it. I've had physicals and nothing was like what I experienced today. I'm an overweight person, I freely admit it, but I'm not by no means a "huge" guy. However today was told by some quack at a fly-by-night operation that because of my BMI and my neck was 17 inches, he would only give me a 60 conditional medical card until I have a Sleep Apnea test done. Huh? I've never heard of a DOT Physical requiring a sleep apnea test, ever. So I looked it up (even on this site...which BTW, has been a God send in many ways), and found out that DOT actually states you "should" have one done, but it is NOT required. So I called my doctor, and no I don't not need a sleep apnea test done unless I am having difficulty sleeping at night (which I do not, I rarely even wake up at night), and never snore (even called my wife up to make sure). So my question is......was anyone in a situation where they were forced to get a non-necessary sleep apnea test (whether anyone thinks it's a good idea or not), that they didn't need/want/couldn't pay for, just to get your 2 year Medical Card. OR did you just go see another doctor. And does your company () accept medical cards from another physician?

Don't be fooled by this sleep apnea witch hunt b.s. There's currently no law by the DOT or FMCSA stating you can't drive based on neck girth and bmi. As a matter of fact, Obama signed a law called the sleep apnea bill that from what I know says the FMSCA will have to go through the formal rule making process to implement such recommendation
