It is another question they use to determine if you have sleep apnea. According to doctors, most people with undiagnosed sleep apnea are side sleepers. The reason being is that the obstruction isn't as bad on your side as it is while sleeping on your back, and those affected will gravitate toward side sleeping not realizing there is a real underlying reason for doing so. So, basically it's a trick question.

Don't just give up and swallow what your company tells you about sleep apnea. There is currently no DOT or FMSCA regulation requirements concerning your neck girth or bmi. These requirements are being made by the big carriers like CRST and Knight. And of course their insurance companies. You can still go get your own DOT physical and apply with smaller mom & pop companies. Don't loose hope. It's taken me about a year to unravel this ########, I'm starting with a new company Monday. I gave 5 years of perfect service to CRST. I'm not gonna try sleeping with a ###### gas mask on. Check the law. Yes, the carrier can impose this b.s., but you don't have to work for that carrier.
