I wish I could be in the left lane. And at this point I have yet to be the oversize. Though we allegedly do have the occasional load come through, and my truck is actually properly equipped with all the things for it.

The most fun I usually get is the look of frustration when a new prime driver sees the lightning bolt.

5 degrees in Gary, Indiana dealing with frozen tarps in 20 mph winds. That's a "real man's job"! I recommend everyone do it once. It'll certainly give you a greater respect for flatbedders.

I would add:some people are scared of work, some aren't.

Edit to add: anyone that actually thinks tarping and chaining qualifies as work, has never actually had to work.

So, what do you think of Dye? 21 years old. Knows his craft and obviously takes lots of pride in his job. I like to see young men take pride in what they do. I like to see young men who are good at what they do. IMO, he is an outstanding example of what an open deck driver is. Look at that tarp job...like JC Penny Christmas wrapped.

RedRover, Lepton1, MJ1657 and 2 others Thank this.

Some folks need to spend a summer doing rooftop deliveries of shingles. First time you get to carry 60,000 pounds of shingles across the roof of house, from the single place the truck can get close enough, up and down and up and down the peaks and valleys the home owner just had to have, carrying 180 pounds at a time up the 9x12 slope roof, you realize that this is a job that would make a lot of food service guys cry for momma.
