I agree this stuff works great and it last a good while.

I bet it'd help to add graphite to the grease.
But I'm a company driver and don't have to worry about it -
Auto zone, o'reilys. They got grease.

if you get the grease from Harbor Freight get the Sta-Lube Moly. its the same kind as my local Napa carries for a bit better price. IMO I think the moly grease lasts longer. When we where hauling local silage loads in Idaho every fall we would grease our fifth wheels every couple days until we switched to moly grease. After we switched we only had to grease every week and a half to 2 weeks. We use the tubes and just knock the open end against the fifth wheel and smear it around. Don't even have to get your hands dirty...

If I casually skim over the wording in these posts, I can't help but wonder if we're discussing personal lube or truck lube
Ooops Thanks this. -
A dab of grease here on the side of the hole, a dab on the front of hole and another on the other side. And done.
Repeat when tractor starts to understeer on ice or rain.
I think it was 2 bucks a handful bag you can slap onto your 5th wheel 6 bucks carries you a while. Get a scraper so you can reuse the grease that migrated to edges. -
I grease mine lightly and frequently with a grease gun. I try to dolly down as far as possible when I drop the trailer, then dump the bags when hooking back up. Slide under until the pin almost touches, then air back up and couple. Helps keep the grease on the fifth wheel and not the catwalk.
MJ1657, mitmaks and scottied67 Thank this. -
Oh and I forgot to mention, I use Mystic JT-8 for the fifth wheel, as well as everything else. However, I believe cheaper grease is fine for the fifth wheel. Just make sure it never runs dry.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I grease the truck every weekend,so it gets a light coat every week. When I switch trailers mid week,I have a bottle of Walmart gear oil,run a few lines of that across 5th wheel. A quart bottle lasts about a year.
