As a yard jockey I agree. My companyy wont let me work more than 60 hours a week, but we are not forced to do resets either. We must have 10 hours off in between shifts, though our boss gives us 12 and no more than 60 a week. I normally do 56 hours over 6 day stretch, 3rd shift, being off Sunday night only.Blackshack46 Thanks this.

If you're out of hours and can't legally drive and you want to play that card, then fine order a tow truck to move your rig, lol. But seriously that's what it comes down to. Parking in a way you're not supposed to means you're accepting these risks. Sometimes you get lucky and no one makes a fuss. Other times you gotta bite the bullet. Me, I like my beauty sleep, so I always park proper to avoid The Midnight Knock Knock Knocktucker Thanks this.

I didn't know that anyone is "forced" to do a reset. Everything I have read in the regulations says it is optional.
-
If you want all your hours back and not have to run recap then you are right.
-
I'm forced when they don't dispatch me for 36+ hours. Boom, the hours come back. Wish I could burn more of my 70, tho.CrappieJunkie Thanks this.

Even if they don't dispatch you, that is not being "forced". It is still optional. We had no problem for decades getting the job done with out even the option of a reset. If some outfit is going to make me sit for 36, it will be at home. I will not sit for any carrier for 36 away from home. That is optional too. I can opt to tell them to stick it and go to another carrier that doesn't play games like that. When I became a man, I put away childish things.

What does crappie and his response have to do with resets?CrappieJunkie Thanks this.

I should have clarified, I've been at my company over 8 months now, and I've not yet done a reset anywhere but home.

To be fair , Manager is trying to get them to move before the local PD shows up. If you are still sitting there when he gets the it is a hefty fine. He is trying to help you.
