Rite Aid in my neck of the woods used to be a premier Ryder 3PL account. Nice trucks, nice trailers, lots of chrome, and 48' doubles on the Thruway/Masspike. There was a DC in the Rome NY area. I think they've lost it to JB since. I worked for Ryder on a different retail account and Rite Aid was always top of the food chain, well paid and tons of work.
I pick up and deliver a lot around the Perryman DC, but I've only ever delivered there once so have no real hands-on, except that they're quite nice as deliveries to their DC go. -
I haven't been up there in some time. Do they still have the dedicated dock door for LTL trucks?
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Have a strong back to pull the pallets of freight, good trailer set up skills so you can unload at the front door or maybe the rear door cause you wont bump any docks, and some stores are in rough areas.

Rough is a understatement. With my strange bent damaged brain, I see Ronin to hire and walk with me when going into harms way.
Most people are NICE... maybe TOO nice to be sent into the lions den.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Actually, the Rome DC was Rite Aid company drivers, paid better than WalMart. Sadly, they turned it over to Ryder Logistics about 7 or 8 years ago and closed the Rome facility about 3 years ago, moved it to nearby Liverpool NY. The company drivers used to have really nice trucks, excellent benefits, etc. Most of the guys had been there long enough to win 2 and 3 million mile safe driving awards. The Rome guys did the doubles, used to drop trailers at the Thruway doubles area where local Ryder drivers would take them into NYC, North Jersey, etc and make the store deliveries. The Rome company drivers would make store deliveries in central NY and less congested areas.
I worked out of Perryman for a few weeks back in 04 when I needed a break from the towing and car haul world. I was fortunate, it was only filler work waiting on the account my brother and I signed up to team for so we didn't ever do a store run only shuttled between Perryman MD and Nitro W.Va 4 nights a week and a shuttle to Rome to go home. The store delivery drivers I spoke with while there were good guys and happy, the manager Jason something was awesome to work with, very understanding and helpful.
As far as JB Hunt goes, haters are gonna hate. I liked working for them both times I did, although I never stayed longer than 6 months, they were used to fill in the gap while I was changing paths in my career. Good luck driver.Mike2633 Thanks this.
