I'm gonna guess Old fuel has partially plugged fuel lines.

Sitting up 7 months isn't that long. What was the reason it was parked for? Does the voltage to fuel shutoff solenoid stay constant while cranking (12 Volts)? Use a voltmeter and not a test light to check power to the solenoid. Also like Heavy said need to make sure you have RPM being detected by ECM. Do you have access to computer diagnostic hookup? What do the Check engine/stop engine lights do when you switch the truck on?

Cummins recommended using carb/choke cleaner when running the overhead to spray in the injectors to prevent them from sticking when you bottom them out while adjusting. You had to bend the straw and spray it in a small hole in the injector body....maybe one of the current Cummins techs can tell you exactly where at, I've forgotten. If the fuel has gummed them up this will work but if your fuel had any water in it and it rusted up the barrel and plunger you're looking at new injectors.

Darn, I messed up! Truck sat 1 year and 7 mo's!!
power to solenoid (battery power constant 12.7)
I replaced ECM and wiring harness to make sure I did not have a voltage drop any where.
Ck engine lights work as the should, on off.
thinking the 8 mile drive got the bad fuel to injectors and the heat after shutting off crystallized the fuel at the injectors! I think?

I bought my current truck after it sat for 10 years. The 10 year old diesel didn't hurt anything.

Yeah we just had a guy with a Detroit that sat up 8 years because it would not crank. He towed it around here and we fixed a ground wire in the battery box and the truck started right up. Sometimes on an N-14 if it sits up over a year we have to pull it around the shop and pop the clutch to get it going. Takes some time.

If it was me, I'd pull the injectors and soak them in a bucket of clean fuel for about a week.

I am trying to see if I can get the job done without pulling the injectors,
I am now reading that the real problem happened when I shut the truck off the heat crystallized the tar-fuel in the injector tips! ???

I have been playing with this truck off and on for 2mo's, have done a lot of cranking on it! probably going to need a starter when done!
