I'm not gonna see the truck myself. I talked to him today he said 7 something series. He's gonna go make an offer on Monday. I know a lot of guys run these trucks, but to be honest I really don't think this is a truck that would fit into his lifestyle. I believe he is looking at it b/c he just spent $27,000 on a rebuild for his 6nz cat. I myself have never owned a Def truck and neither has he. I go off of what I read here and what I hear on the road and neither have many good things to say about those types of trucks. Especially compared to pre-egr models. He doesn't really do much work on the internet so I printed out what you guys were saying and faxed it to him. Maybe if he can buy the truck right it could work, but other then that he should leave it alone

If he does buy, make sure he gets the extended warranty. Well worth it . I had to have my Volvo get new injectors and injector cup, which is typical for D13, and warranty covered I'd.

Like Dave-in-Az and rolling coal say; check everything and complain about everything and how much it's going to cost to fix it. After that, you won't have to worry about insulting them with your low-ball offer. And after you've made your offer, don't say anything. Let the silence hang in the air. The person who speaks first loses. Make sure it's them and not you. Remember, it's a buyers market and there are plenty of trucks for sale.

The stuff I listed are just the known big ticket items for a D13. We have the number 1 rated dealer / service in the nation here, so that helps, and they are very good. What I have personally seen is the people that have Cummins in them have more trouble, especially with the EGR/DEF system, and typically have to wait for parts.

That 670 I was describing for $37K is gone. DAMmMIT. They have another for $42K, they may come down on, probably go looking Friday.

Got buddies that run the 2011-2013 cummins. Egr problems. Pete, freightliner all the same. emissions trucks have problems and in my opinion it is worse in the cold weather . Trucks don't get warm enough to regen correctly .

But... In my experience, Detroit emissions problems are A LOT cheaper than Cummins and Volvo. I have all 3 in my fleet. Cummins and Volvo parts are typically 3 times the cost.

    cole41 Thanks this.

Ok here's the update. He bought it beginning of the week. I just found out today, paid 32,000. It is not from a dealer it's from a guy. So he paid 32,000 cash. I don't think he should have, but whatever not my truck. Thanks to everyone who helped with information.

That's reflective of where the used truck market is right now, to say it's depressed would be an understatement.

He could of probably bought 3 Prostars at auction for the same price ;-)
