Settle a debate for me.... I was taught that logs should be based on the DRIVER'S HOME TIME ZONE and not the time zone where the company HQ is, if different.
Can someone quote chapter and verse on this?

It will need to be wherever the terminal (or carrier branch/office) nearest you, or where you are terminalled out of if they have multiple terminals. (so, the carrier tells you which time zone to use) Usually this will be a location where actual driver logs (or access to eLogs data) are stored and audited.
Your personal home location has nothing to do with anything related to log keeping.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Your home terminal
rabbiporkchop and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
(8) Time base to be used. (i) The driver's duty status record shall be prepared, maintained, and submitted using the time standard in effect at the driver's home terminal, for a 24-hour period beginning with the time specified by the motor carrier for that driver's home terminal.
There it is!rabbiporkchop, tscottme and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
My home terminal was in the eastern time zone. However I always used my companies time zone if it differed. This one hour time difference can wreck havoc on a GPS time sync to a log. This is not something the Feds gets too upset about as long as your otherwise legal.

@Exrayman4000 did post the reg, but to 'prove' it here is the link... http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/retrieveECFR?gp=1&ty=HTML&h=L&mc=true&=PART&n=pt49.5.395#se49.5.395_18
Which means it's the company's terminal the driver is based out of. It could be a different time zone from drivers home, and still different from company's HQ.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
I Live in the East, Am Leased to a Company In the East, drive for a Company In the Central and am assigned to the California Fleet.
