Don't discount Maverick. It is a mega but a good company. They will treat you fairly. So long as you are a hard worker you will be rewarded for it. Also, there flatbed securement training is absolutely top notch. Their training served me very well as I am now with a much smaller company doing mostly regional flatbed and I've taught them a thing or two about securement. I would tell you about my current company but they only hire out of Western South Dakota ( which is why I left Maverick as I moved here and they don't hire here). Best wishes!

I get the not wanting to go with just anyone but got to tell you for every horror story you read or heard from someone, there can be five stories of happy events, everyone has a different point of view and for the most part the horror stories only help those companies not hurt them.

Yeah I got in touch with Maverick earlier in the week filled out an application talked to the recruiter 3/4 times throughout this week she just now called me back and everything checked out great background great, MRV great, no big time criminal history great, but oh.......wait a minute.....I haven't worked anywhere since 2012 that I can prove (no w2's) my wife works for Chrysler in graphic design so we're ok so I have been a stay at home dad for our littlest guy and doing side work (remodeling) here and there, but this no work history is really ####@#$% things up for me ... Needless to say Maverick shot me down. Come back and call us when you get 18 months of work history somewhere she says...

I will not WASTE my time giving you advice. You sound like a spoiled child. You post in these forums and #### all over some good people working for some good carriers. I am only replying so a true greenhorn will see what you DON'T do when approaching this job. This forum and others like it are filled with story after story of bad experiences but in almost everyone of them a key thing is left out. You don't hear both sides of a story. YOU SHOULD NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER MAKE CAREER DECISIONS BY JUST GOING BY THE ANTI COMPANY CRAP POSTED IN THESE FORUMS. I CAN"T STRESS IT ENOUGH, YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE FULL TRUTH. I know of hundreds of drivers that drive for large carriers. Most have finished or ar getting close to finishing that first year. I also know a lot of people in the operations, maintenance/shops and safety in these "mega" carriers and know them to be honest hardworking people. And I take GREAT OFFENSE at them being #### on by a #### rookie driver that don't know the difference between hyperbole and the fricking truth. Man I'm done.

Well first off I have Not s@#% on anyone's post or anything someone ever said on this site (except for an d@#% head who was craping all over people on different threads today) so other than that I've never spoke ill will about anyone so you must have the wrong newbie. #2 I've been doing research for some time now and I think I'm old enough to form my own opinions. Yes I do want to get into flatbed but not having experience and my work history being non existent as of 2012 I've been finding it some what difficult. And no I did not just get my class A I've had it for 3 years but I was playing Mr Mom for most of the last 3 years . And for your information turns out that I'm gonna be going with US Xpress to gain the experience I'm lacking i know they don't have a flatbed division so I'm going with what works for me right now.I'll go in with my head held high and my ears open and leave all formed opinions at the door. I can take my medicine sir...
But don't get me confused with others because I haven't trashed anyone....Not even you.....Man...I'm...done ...
