I did not know what you refer to as level 2 and 3, but now that I do know, I can tell you that shoot houses is part of every basic level handgun class in my experience, and not some special advanced level training, it just gets used more in the advanced courses.
And, yes, Simunitions do hurt a little more than paintball or air soft, unless you are playing with the Navy Seal guys that hop their guns up... Lol
Bring a gun while being over the road?

That's what I mean. In the temple you might even kill somebody. They use to make one called the " ninja ", that was really nasty.
The point I'm trying to make is when bear catches you with a handgun, or you pull it on someone and best case scenario it doesn't get fired but bear finds out, it's gonna be bad day for you.
I mean if you sleep at a rest area, then go in for a full sink bath at 0230, your kinda opening the door. There is some self awareness / responsibility that has to happen people.Ke6gwf and KillingTime Thank this. -
Some of us are naturally (or trained via poor experiences) to be wary, distrustful, environmentally vigilant. Others.... so aloof that while I'm not a victimizer, I can't help but think 'target'.lilillill, Ke6gwf and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

That can be very tricky. Contrary to popular belief there's nothing illegal with carrying a gun in a truck. If your conceal carry permit is legal in the states your in, than your good...... BUT some companies have no gun policies, and in SOME states their stupid little gun buster signs ARE legally enforceable which can be a problem. Theirs also the issue of you getting dispatched onto Federal property where's it's a felony to carry or even posses. Then your beyond screwed. I'm a gun guy but I wouldn't attempt it if I were OTR.Ke6gwf and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Hollow points are indeed verboten in NJ, even for retired LEOs carrying under LEOSA.tscottme Thanks this.

A couple things about self defense with a firearm if I may...
First of all, know the laws of your current location. Ignorance is not an excuse.
You are responsible for errant rounds, meaning basically don't hit any innocent bystanders. That could be manslaughter or reckless endangerment.
Don't shoot to kill. That's murder. Shoot to stop the threat. That is all. Stand down once the hostile is down.
Don't brandish. That is assault. Never draw unless you or someone else is threatened.
Know your firearm, and above all GET TRAINED in its operation and use. Judicious marksmanship is always a good thing in a self defense situation. Bystanders will thank you.
Your mentality must always be to make sure you live to see another day, NOT to make sure someone else doesn't. If this EVER enters your mind, you don't need to be carrying a firearm.
If the items listed above are no problem for anyone AND you're currently in a 2A-friendly state, then by all means enjoy your Constitutional right.scottied67, Bob Dobalina, Ke6gwf and 1 other person Thank this. -
I say those who wish to argue how a gun fight progresses, don't.
There are a thousand ways to settle a gunfight in a few moments. There is no point in talking about who does this who does that then etc etc etc. Come on now.
There is one thing I do have as a rule that I learned from the Tueller Drill which is the one drill I do not do well at... anytime someone is with a distance from you about 8 yards, they can already just about stab you before you finish the mental freeze and draw.
One more addition to Mack's list. In Arkansas you are not obligated to draw. It might be better you don't.Ke6gwf Thanks this. -
I've produced my firearm to troopers in TN, AL, and KY when asked. Those states don't care, some do.
I'm not OTR and only go to friendly states so i go armed. My company also has a pro gun policy because the owner (me) approved it.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I do agree with the above statement but feel it needs clarification. You also don't want to aim for a leg shot or fire a warning shot in the air or something like that. Stuff like that can get you killed if the situation has escalated enough that you have to fire your firearm to save your life. To truly stop a threat requires shots placed in center mass.x1Heavy and Claysapparel Thank this.

I was just thinking about a friend today that carried his keys on something like that... I was going to ask him what it was called as I thought about one for defense too. Which is why he used it.KillingTime Thanks this.
