Any thoughts on the engine I am building for my 2013 388 Pete?
The block is Acert because I like the four bolt block and extra side support to keep the crank straight.
The top end (heads) is 6NZ because of the great airflow and huge injectors I can stuff in them, I think thats the best breathing all-around, good low end torque and good horsepower at high speed.
The intake, turbo, and exhaust are 5EK, its simple, it works and its cheap.
Just curios, who has done this and what did you think when it was done? -
why a 6nz head there is no real diff than a acert has 4 bolt rods not mains
Guntoter Thanks this. -
The block has got nothing to do with it. It's the crank pistons and rods. If you want a strong engine find a 2ws or 1mm block, why you ask, they are a stiffer block won't flex as much as the 6nz or acert blocks. The 2ws and 1 mm blocks have more cast metal in them. They weigh 300 lbs more than a 6nz block. The only thing better about a 6nz or acert block Is the gaskets on the front and rear structures. A 1mm, 2ws, 6nz, mbn or a bxs would be my choice in that order. With the Acert crank and 16:1 pistons.

Is that where the "block spacer" comes into play? I was told I would need one if I put a 6NZ head on an Acert block but the guy doing the build is hard to get info from.

The acert head is the same as 6nz. The spacer is between the head and block. If it has excessive wear from fretting then you go with a new spacer.
