Just know that most Trainers are no better and even worse at performing and knowing how to do proper vehicle inspections than new CDL holders. Maybe 5% of drivers are completing actual vehicle inspections.. and that number is probably being optimistic. If you learned how to do proper inspections, keep doing them! Know that when you get with a trainer, you may not do them any more until you get on your own tractor assigned. Then you'll have the opportunity to do actual inspections on actual equipment. You will have to train yourself to do them, and you'll need to hit the books to learn more on the components that your carrier uses.

Ok I'll make this simple
There are no training standards for anyone to follow. There are no industry set standards to qualify a trainer to be a trainer.
Many of these are clowns that can't drive themselves and Are expected to teach others how to drive.
Until there are set standards that all the companies have to abide by, a program to teach trainers to train, they are mentors and marginally train people to drive.
Why do I rag on trainers?
Because I see this as part of the really easy to get cdl process that has dragged this industry down,BostonTanker and brian991219 Thank this. -
That's all well and good, and I agree with it. But also pretty much refutes your assertion that getting a CDL makes one trained. Standards or no standards, having a CDL does not make somebody trained. Once again I ask how about how to descend a mountain properly? How about how to chain a truck? How about how to tell when you have black Ice? How about how to keep the wipers from icing up in the winter?Last edited: Nov 6, 2016
