Had a week of vacation. Now it's back on the road.

Shop took the opportunity to replace my cracked windshield and install one of their cameras on the new one. Oh joy!

Now i'm gonna have to figure out where to mount my GPS.

Wow. I left System the end of July. The 680's were just starting to hit Denver fleet. Seemed like drivers either loved them or hated them. They were just starting to get the new cameras installed. What I heard at the time was they weren't going to be using the driver facing cameras. My thought to that was "yeah, right." Kind of up there with the new pay scales will give you a big bump in pay. Uh-huh....... Yeah us in Denver fleet got hit pretty hard. Bunch of guys left after that.

Was thinking for a moment about going back but not so sure what to think about some of the stuff I've seen here.......

They have a cover in place over the driver facing camera at the moment.

Well, when I started there I had set the goal to get myself debt free. Which I did. Paid off $36k in debt in 19 months. Then I asked myself why I was busting my ### so hard for $500-700 pay checks. Things had been really slow the last several months I was there. I got Hit on I-25 and was in a loaner truck for 8 weeks. Then had a series of breakdowns from pms not being done like they should have been. I think it all boiled down to I was tired. tired of winter and throwing chains to go up the hill. Tired of busting ### to get a delivery done then get "let me see what the plan is." After I had been on a run for two days. Tired of sitting waiting for a trailer assignment at gyp for several hours to get one headed back to Denver. Tired of no heat in the sleeper and when I say it's not working get a "keep us posted."

In the end I'm not sure I'll go back to System. For a number of reasons. But I miss the driving. The office job ain't as good as I thought it would be. I miss seeing the country out my windshield. I guess I enjoyed it more than I thought. Except 80 in Wyoming, I can do without that one.

I wonder if they'll make you take the covers off in the future or maybe just new drivers.

I hear you, those are the same reasons I left for: poor equipment maintenance and lack of pre-plans.

    Good luck to you.

Somebody earlier in the thread said that's exactly the plan.

They gave me fuel/routing on this load and the mileage is back where it used to be. Might be a glitch in the system if no fuel/routing is assigned.
