    huh?

Both parts of that post are counter productive.

There's that word again, you don't know what it means, do you?

I don't need to understand scientific terminology as long as I understand exactly what is happening during an experiment.
Measuring an unknown antenna against a known measurement is the only logical way of measuring an unknown antenna otherwise it's completely counterproductive trying to measure an unknown antenna against an unknown RF ground potential.

(This is often why the same antenna on a different truck no longer appears resonant)

The definition of counter productive is saying that my methods (which always work quite well) are counter productive without offering any useful information to help Craig understand and solve his issue in 5 minutes.
If his truck was here in front of me, his problem would be solved in 5 minutes. Using big words doesn't appear to help him so I try to explain things in as basic a way as possible.

And I'm just crazy enough to try it. I think two stainless whips would do the trick.

Well the inverted V wire dipole is a popular antenna for HF base stations, Worst can happen is it doesn't work.

Saw a fellow pulling a tanker the other day with a V antenna mounted behind the sleeper. Didn't see if it was an old mirror mount for rabbit ears tv we used to use or whether it was something different. Antennas were 4ft or longer rather than the tv stubbys.

    lilillill and rabbiporkchop Thank this.
