Interesting, kinda reminds me how having an old point ignition engine around is a good thing, should EMP hit at some future time....

Cool stuff. Have a couple of hallicrafter recievers. Grand father left transmitter at repair shop too long and it got sold for the bill otherwise might have wound up with the complete set. Hooking up the receiver to a Antron 99 when I was young was a treat you could hear stuff from all over the world. Listened to one of the Collins collectors nets on 80 meters the other night.

I can do points easy. Just need the points and the gauges to adjust them once the new ones are installed inside the distributor.

The one thing about them though, they require huge coils to drive and feed em like really enormous spikes very fast. I once had a 351 whose top end starved the ignition voltage overall because I did not have a big enough coil to generate that kind of racing food for her.

It would be nice to be wanted and needed again to do point work post EMP.

Yeah they are good to have, the art-13 and the BC-348 both run off of a dyno and are noisy. I have other accessories for the set, like the cu-32 and remote control heads.

If you want to see what I have, here is someone who has almost the same things.

By the way it's not the ignition you need to really worry about with emp, you have to worry about the charging system and battery.

I would have to look S 40 and SB 38 come to mind. It was neat the world wide stations that came in with just a minimal antenna.

    That's great.

First radio radio I ever turned on was my grandfathers s-40 that was given to him in 1940's. I loved that radio, my uncle has that radio now would like to get it. Through the years I've had everything except an s-40 from an s-40a to an s-52.

I've got several s-38s, they are neat radios. Love them, bought many of them through the years but 11 years ago I sold all of them off to make room for another huge radio. So last year I got the s-38 bug again and now I've got five or six of them again.

It nice to know that others appreciate hallicrafters radios.
