The vast majority of company drivers cannot realize their radio's full potential when installed in their company truck. I certainly cannot, the required effort would not even be allowed, would fall under the company's "modification of the truck" policy. I think that's what rabbi is getting at here.

Yeah exactly..Most if not all companys dont like drivers messing with the truck with mods..When that driver leavs the truck it costly to bring it back to its original state..
In my case i put a dbl din stereo in my truck so i had to mod the plastic box in the dash to allow it to fit..Original stereo is only a thiin single din....To run coax fairly neatly i also melted a hole in the plastic sun glass holder on passenger side...I already have those parts bought but many wouldnt even respect their company to do that kinda thing..

    bored silly Thanks this.

Try talking 100 miles out of a tractor trailer on 27.185mhz in AM mode, and let me know how it turns out.

I see your two points, but that's not what I’m driving at because I’ve hear this before - in order to get a great radio system in a mobile that lives up to its potential, it can't be in a truck.

Again you are not explaining why not.

You are seeing just distance as the potential while I'm seeing overall performance as potential.

You are also missing a point you should have gotten about the whole system, but I guess that's alright.

Well i took off the 40" tall mirror mound and put on the wilson one, mounted the 10k 22" shaft but didnt tune and im hittin about 5-7 swr across the board...SO that tells me no so called counterpoise correct??
Tomorrow when i mount a 4.5 ft firestick upside down it should be on my way for this dipole idea correct??
Now my plan is to do what volvo244 did and just mount 1 ant in each direction but tune the top one..See what that does and then switch correct??
    Worked for him.....

How do you plan on measuring your ground element baseline?
