Yes. Doubles. Company requires it. And we have to log at least one. For hazmat we log regularly.

More than a walk around less than a full pretrip because we do so many and my partner needs temperature controlled sleep and I can't open the hood.... Always check the pins and connections. Also, lights.

Every time I stop I check lights, tires, kingpin, tandem pins, hubs. 95% of the time everything is hunky dory. But not always. Lights go out, tires go bad, etc

    TequilaSunrise Thanks this.

Yes shame on you. We've all witnessed the wife doing an exhaustive pre-trip while the husband sits in the cab numerous times. There's no excuse for such sexism on TTR!

My wife and I both log pre trips before each shift and post trips when switching over. It's just a little extra paperwork but will totally cover your butt during a DOT inspection and we'll make your company safety officer happy.

Exactly right. 392.7 requires the driver to be satisfied, before driving, that certain parts and accessories identified in that regulation are in good working order. 396.13 requires that the driver, before driving, assure himself that the truck and trailer are in safe operating condition. 396.11 requires a post-trip report. Now, to be satisfied a team driver may rely on his co-driver.
