I am wanting to become a OTR truck driver, but I am making sure I can do the job before going to school.
I was wondering if most truckers are standing 8 or more hours a day.
I need to know, because I'm rehabing from a ankle problem that's genetic.
I can hike 10 miles over hiking trails that are up and down hills, but if I am on my feet for 8 hours for a couple days straight my ankle won't hold me.
So I have no problem with walking under the truck or getting up, I just need to know if most of you have to stand 8 hours in the course of a day.

Most drivers are sitting more than standing. The only real standing or walking for that matter is getting fuel, checking in or out of the place you pick up or deliver.:yes2557:

Drivers definitely spend most of their day sitting in the driver's seat. Will the ankle hold up to the up to 11 hours of driving per day? You will have a clutch, brake and fuel pedal to deal with, and they definitely require a bit more pressure than the pedals in your car. Yes, you will have time on the open road, where you can use cruise control, but a major city during rush hour can be total he!! on the legs, knees and ankles.
