If you belive the border should be open then open it to all.

Banking industry? they don't have to worry about losing jobs to immigrants, they are being replaced by ATM's.
Office workers? When's the last time to spoke to a customer service person sitting in America? Most of them are in India or Bangladesh.
Do you have any other arguments, at least some that hold water? -
When you go to the Dr. office do you walk in and pick up a phone to sign in? (office workers) and your routed to India or Bangladesh. May be one day with your line of thinking but not now.
now I can already tell you are not involved in the trucking Industry, so you have know understanding as to what we face or how it works and the way the Goverment seems to work in finding way's to avoid protecting our Industry.
The bill did'nt pass. one for us. yea, -
You make me sick, people like you never want to give anybody a chance, like you grand parents they just want a new start, why don't you shut the #### up, please.
-
Do you have any clue as to what this is about?
People like you should have a understanding befor they respond.
It's not about people of any country who live here. Can you follow that.
They want a new start? So move here abide by our laws rules and regulations that we do in the trucking industry.
Don't cross over cut our rates and cross back to go home.
And by the way, My grandparents were born here. -

Ok, if our trucks go to Mexico, we have to follow and abide by their rules and regulations. Why is it to much to ask for them to follow ours out of safety and such for our own people.
If they can't or are not willing to, then by all means shut it down. I am VERY glad that this passed!!!
Here is something I think you need to read ronnocomot and derrick. This was printed April of 2007.
"This disastrous plan will allow Mexican trucks and truckers to cross our border with no weight or load accountability restrictions enforced, as their loads will not be under the same security scrutiny that our truckers' loads have to comply to. There are not nearly enough qualified U.S. DOT inspectors to do the job of inspecting the Mexican trucks and drivers. As quoted by Norita Taylor of OOIDA, "Safety - U.S. inspectors are already stretched to the limit in performing safety checks on American carriers. No evidence has been provided showing that Mexican trucks will be inspected consistently and held to the same high standards that U.S. trucking firms are federally required to meet." This will swing the door to our border wide open to more drugs, terrorist, weapons and human smuggling. Most of the Mexican truckers do not speak, read or write English and many have less than an 8th grade education. Many will drive their trucks with no liability or collision insurance in place, many truckers will be driving with no driver-licenses and some with criminal and DUI driving records."

Now are you willing to let them continue to come over here, and risk what could happen.. I personally am not and either is my trucker!!!
Now, if they want to come over here LEGALLY and follow our rules.. our regulations then no problem, but as we can all tell... that won't happen.kittykat and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
Why don't you check your facts and then post again.

Well Ron do you live on one of these border towns? Have you ever spent any time at one of these so called border towns? If so then you would know pretty much how they drive there. Any truck driver will tell you that they drive like complete and utter maniacs on the side streets and like 45 mph on the Interstates..
So, by you saying what you said I don't really think you have spent much time in one of these area..
Carnage? well perhaps it has something to do with near 90% of AMERICAN border towns are past residents of Mexico and are used to the crazy driving.. Get them up into Illinois, Indiana, Kansas its going to be a total different story...
When speaking on the subject of smuggling it does not necessarily have to be humans.. Gives them more of an opportunity to smuggle drugs.. set up better routes to have them delivered. What about chemicals that can be smuggled to make a bomb? So much more could be done if they are aloud to deliver.. Why? becuase the way the system is set up now there is no way really to tell who is going to pick it up on the American side. They7 bring it and drop it off and anybody pretty much can get that job to pick it up.. They will have the opportunity to know exactly who when and where a trailer is going...
America already has given Mexico many jobs.. Letting this bill go on threw is doing nothing more then doing that, giving more of our jobs away..
I know exactly what your argument is.. It will lower cost of products.. So, what.. I am willing to pay more to keep our jobs here.. We have been selling America out for to long, its time we start taking back, even if it cost us a little more at the store..
Your argument about homes being built by Mexicans and food being harvested ext.. Again do we really have a choice? been over this many times.. Its practically being forced on Americans.. You know how hard it is to find fresh produce that has not went threw at least one Mexicans hand? it almost would be virtually impossible to find out if it has or not.. Neighbor of mine has about 10 greenhouses and grows tomatoes, sells them under "American grown" he still has Mexicans coming in and out of there all the time.. Its practically impossible to tell if Mexicans helped..
The fact is Americans stood up an opposed the bill where Illegals were going to get amnesty, Americans made it clear that they want something done about illegals in this country. (majority of Americans)
With that said and the FACTS are most Americans don't want them here.
So, you can take that infomation and say that yes you do hear them complaining about houses being built by Mexicans and our food being grown by Mexican (illegals)Working Class Patriot, droy, Southern Belle and 2 others Thank this. -
I am not advocating for Mexican trucks being here, what I am advocating is competition. The fact of the matter is that the terms of NAFTA give the Mexican trucking companies the right to be here. Just as it gives U.S. carriers the right to go to Mexico. It's besides the point to claim that U.S. operators don't want to go to Mexico.
I understand that a majority of people who care about this issue are against them being here, but I think overall, NAFTA is a win for all U.S. consumers, and the facts support that.
Our government should not be in the business of protecting one segment of the U.S. economy over the greater benefits realized by all U.S. consumers. That goes for all U.S. industries (for those of you who want to bring up oil subsidies).
To debate this issue on purely economic terms is a whole lot different than trying to win the argument by using fear, faulty information or all out lies.
The repeal of this portion of the NAFTA agreement while keeping Mexican truckers from the roads of America, will lead to many, many job losses in other sectors of our economy. The return of Tariffs on products exported to Mexico will cost many more jobs losses in the overall economy than the cross border program will cause job losses in the U.S. trucking industry.Robbvious Thanks this.
