Not looking for a 9-5 because I know this career isn't like that but basically asking if I should haul tankers working my way up to fuel for something home at night eventually or say start at ups freight as a dockworker and work my way up to city driver. Also not very interested in food service or beverage delivery. Just looking for honest opinions and any other options. I'm fine with night driving but not for long maybe 1-2 years

No food huh?? Try a career with Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paints- Load outta their DC's and deliver to the stores......No Waiting- No Trucks at the stores- Daytime receiving- Good money- Nice equipment...Uniforms-Benefits- And Fun atmosphere

Hard part- Getting you hired.......Benji Moore will tale an act of god to hire on- And Sherwin Willliams will get you on, but I think you will have to Run the Road at first-(Regional) But Still a GREAT Job to have,

If you don't like nights do p&d. Ltl linehayl guys are generally nights until they build senority (decades in some cases)
Ltl is in a way more stable over fuel delivery and the companies are more established. Fuel delivery is a good choice becuase there won't be a routine to get bored with and after some experience there will be plenty of good local tanker jobs to keep you entertained. The hardest part will be finding a good fuel delivery company.

Pay changes based on company, but running for a private fleet, like stayinback said. Anyone who hauls their own freight.

I was looking at fastenal but it's 100% night time driving no day options ever. And I haven't found many other private fleets outside of food service.
Yeah hoping to make at least 60000 with maybe 50-60 hr work weeks off on most weekends and holidays. Hope I'm not wishing for the impossible

Think bigger than fastnal, they sound like a good place if you can hack the shift, but think about steel yards, ryerson up here is huge. Their trucks are on the road at 4 am and parked by 4 pm. (I drive by one of their yards) equipment rental places, ya know, bobcats, lulls, ect.. they cant really run past 3 pm as most work sites close at 3. Plumbing suppliers, same thing, electrical suppliers, same thing..
