Are car haulers required to have the new twic card? I see alot of pmtg drivers picking up their loads from the port of baltimore. Am asking because am intrested in this company (pmtg). Should i just apply for my twic card. Thankx.

If you're interested in the company, I would just ask whichever recruiter you are/might be talking to about that. I've got a friend who works for them and I've not heard him mention anything about the TWIC, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have one.

Private companies are starting to require them eg: GE, Weyerhauser, Georgia Pacific. Getting one may be a good idea and if you need one later you will have it.

If you go into any port in the U.S., you will have to have a TWIC card. The ports are not the only place that has to have the card. Any company that has access to the shipping channels are also being required to make sure that you have the card. Coast Guard will be checking... December 1st in Savannah is the day. If no car no access.

    Hope this helps....

I applied for my twic card a couple weeks ago. Paid the 132.50...ouch!!. Got finger printed yada yada..I was thinking about a passport and possible haz-mat..My question is do the passport and haz-mat still require finger prints since i already went that route..also the cost..is there a reduction?

Passport is easy. Just go to the local post office with your birth certificate and ask for the application. They will tell you something about needing an appointment. Tell them that you are a trucker and cant tell where youre going to be in order to make an appointment. It takes about 5-10 minutes to fill out the little app and the appointment crap was just to take a pic. They take 2 pics, send the pics, your app, and your birth certificate away and the guvment sends your stuff to your home via the USPS.

One more thing: They will ask you if you want the passport card or the book. GET THE BOOK!!! Trust me on this.

    Lil Blue Pony Thanks this.
