I got a drop in Orlando and a drop in St . Petersburg in morning. Anyone know any decent flatbed freight coming out of Florida? I don't get down there too much but I scored this 2 50 a mile load so I grabbed it from Minnesota. I heard some guys get some Coil load out of Orlando area but I'm not seeing anything really
good route to avoid the toll into Orlando, FL

I'm guessing you'll regret that decision. I would with a van or reefer even though it is long miles. For the most part reloads out of Atlanta right now are really lousy and that's how I rate myself into Florida when I go - so that I can go empty all the way up to ATL for a reload. Sometimes I even drive right through it up to TN. Good luck.
moonerman Thanks this. -
Pick your poison. Birmingham or south Carolina. Make the 500 mile bounce and don't look back.moonerman and rollin coal Thank this.

Well thanks for the input at least. I know if I can find something up to Indiana I can get 2k coils back home to Minnesota usually out of Jeffersonville. Fingers crossed!!
-
Sorry but it's the truth. What little guys flatbed freight is down here is locked up tight. The spot market is extremely bleak down here.moonerman Thanks this.

We'll I think I did ok. Just booked a cheap load 4 hours north in Georgia that pays 800 to Jeffersonville IN. Then I'll load coils 750 miles home for 2k. Good for me. Better than the other week I sat in Jersey for 2 days and couldn't get squat. Ended up dead heading over 700 miles to get the same coil load home. Gotta love trucking

TQL really knows how to rob a guy tho. If I didn't have my bread n butter load in Jeffersonville I'd be very angry at that 800 dollar rate.. I wonder how much money they are skimming off the top?
-
I think you did alright. No telling what TQL made I quit booking from that bunch. Just too untrustworthy.
-
Yea I don't Blame you. I don't think I've ever gotten a good rate out of them.
-
I have booked over the top rates from them many times. I probably rejected about a 100 incoming calls from them for any one good paying load. It was rare for me to ever call them looking for anything. I always quoted everything way high just because I hated their ways and intentionally wanted to shoo away 99% of them.
Once in a while on one of those good ones there'd be a detention issue and of course after 5 or 6 hours it is considered, by them, as layover and detention maxes out at that point to $200-$300 or some such ridiculously low number. Or they lie about pickup appointments and you show up thinking you're on time only to find out you are a late work in.
On detention approval they will take take a couple of days to approve it hoping you let it slide. Their load board shenanigans of loads not being what is posted multiple times are well known. Or their penchant for when they are selling a load like that to you to sell it in the same dishonest way they post it unless you ask for zips.
It's just a lot of BS all around. You have to check every little thing with them. You might do a dozen or more loads and not have a problem. Then you relax and one falls through the cracks. They're not worth the headache at any rate when that happens. They mistakenly think because they are so big everyone needs them.
Of course they forget there is no shortage of brokers out here and there are a handful of mega brokers as big as them who are head and shoulders much better to work with.
They bankrupted the last company I was leased to. They actually had it ranked as one of the top 1 percent of carriers they worked with. We had 100% load coverage, we never gave loads back to them once they were booked and did a lot of business with them.
One driver had a claim. They illegally withheld payment on several 10's of thousands of dollars worth of other loads. And knowing that they were doing that the agents there had the audacity and nerve to continue calling drivers and trying to book more loads on the trucks.
The lowest of the low. Just my opinion. I needed to go on that rant and get it out of my system.Last edited: Nov 18, 2016
