I finally sold the single car hauler I started with in March of this year to a fella who deals in a variety of trailer sales and repairs. Lot of Sun-Downer and camper trailers. He asked me since I have the B&W Goose-Neck if I was interested in moving some trailers for him when he buys around the state. Sure if the money is right. He asked me if I intend to get the B&W Companion fifth wheel set-up to move campers. I know these are pricey ranging from $700-$800 for the base model and up to $1400.00 for the Companion Slider.
I don't as of yet have direct clients so I wouldn't even know the rates to ask for in order to stay competitive but profitable. Seen a lot of posts about RV & camper haulers making dirt cheap rates and this area of transport is really designed for retirees looking for some pocket money not for guys trying to make a living .
    Any thoughts suggestions comments ideas?

    Thanks Guys :)

It may be cheaper to just have a regular 5th wheel hitch and rails installed, rather than getting the adapter style like that.

It would also be more stable and stronger, since the adapter style just sits on the bed, and clamps to the gooseneck mount.

You would have to see what style 5th wheel mount would be compatible with the existing frame brackets, and then compare prices.

Ryan, the subject of whether rv haulers can make enough money to live on has been beat to death here. If you're really interested, pm me and I'll give you more information.

Since these are not new rv's and you do not know the maintenance done on the running gear if you move these for him be careful while in transit checking the hubs frequently. The last thing you want is bearing seizing up on you. As for you being competitive, you don have to be. You have your own numbers give him a rate that you are comfortable with. It has to be a win win situation. You win, he wins.

They'd be happy to talk to you if you have a class A and clean driving record. And a good truck obviously.

    tmatrucking Thanks this.

Google "RV transport" and all the usual suspects come up. Most of them are in Elkhart, IN. Just have to talk to a few of them and see who sounds best. I'd ask if they have a lot of accounts in your home state or area to make getting home easier if you don't live anywhere near northern Indiana

Hello, I'm a CDL A driver who has been running tractor-trailers as a company driver for a couple years. I'm currently not a driving for anyone but have been doing anything and everything I can with my CDL to make ends meet until I can figure out a way to get a 1 ton pickup and trailer to run a hot shot biz. I don't have the greatest credit, I don't have a truck and trailer I can begin with, and now no consistent income coming in to get a loan through my credit union to buy a truck and trailer for this biz. I've looked into some lease purchase programs that approve any credit for this line of work and equipment, but who knows what the payments will be and will it even make sense economically.

What I do have is a very high ambition to succeed and an excellent work ethic as well as having a large amount of transportation and driving experience. I'm hoping to find someone who can give me quality descriptive advice or resources for what my options can be trying to get a truck and trailer for hot Shot and/or RV loads. Are there any solid lease programs, dealearships, or maybe fleet owners you know of that could help make this possible for me. I've looked into CWRV out of Elkhart but you need a truck and if you drive for fleet owner you don't make much at all, either way it seems like the drivers aren't making much. I just need some resources, guidance, or your personal advice on how I should go about financing, leasing, and where to find the loads to make it a successful venture. If you could help out in any way I surely would appreciate it. Thank you!

You better go drive for a fleet owner for six months learn the business on his dime and save some money. There are no free rides and quit trying to get lease purchase you will fail.
