Showing your age.Knucklehead and Rusty Trawler Thank this.

Thanks again. I was told by TWT that they pay percentage, specifically 25% of load and not cpm. I have never done %, so is there any huge difference in the amount of money one makes between % and cpm? And, if I may ask, why wouldn't you work at Averitt? (is it that bad)?

@TROOPER to TRUCKER and @tow614 worked directly for Averitt. Maybe they can offer advice because I'm really biased. I worked for First Fleet which is part of the "3 headed snake" family of trucking companies; Averitt/First Fleet/First Express. It was a horrible experience dealing with favoritism and politics. I just don't do well in an atmosphere like that.duck65, Knucklehead and esandja3 Thank this.

Well just short quick and to the point. At first as a new driver Averitt treated me well. As time went on it got worse and worse. The miles everything. To make really good money I had to give my weekends and stay out a couple weeks at a time. I would not go back at all.
rabbiporkchop, duck65, esandja3 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm not sure Averitt would hire you after being out a year but I could be wrong.
esandja3 Thanks this. -
Marten has been all over Sirrius/XM Satellite Radio advertising LOCAL (home daily) day-cab dry freight (drop & hook) jobs in/near quite a few cities in the country. May wanna give them a call and see if they have an opening near you.
Being out of trucking for a year, they MAY put you OTR or Regional with a trainer for a few weeks just to see if you still "have it". Don't know.esandja3 and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
Oh let me add this. Like the other bigger companies at Averitt the miles are good to start off with. As your pay goes up your miles go down.
Something to think about. They are a lot smaller than megas but just like them having orientation every week bringing in drivers.
Lastly you are required to groom as the say and wear a uniform unless in your 10. -
Thanks for all the information. Anyone know about percentage pay vs com?
-
I used to work for a percentage pay company, I didn't mind it. The downside was I wouldn't get deadhead pay until I surpassed 100 miles. So you should find out what their deadhead pay is. Also ask if there's multiple loads available can you pick which load you want.
