I've had about enough of this, it's getting to be a bleeding epidemic of stupid, and it's spreading fast.

DO NOT flash your high beams to indicate that it's safe for the other driver to move back right after passing, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT!!!

    1. I know where my truck ends and yours begins, and I don't need to be told when I'm past you far enough to move back over. If I am passing you, it's very likely I have enough speed to put a little distance down before I move right.
    2. I am NOT going to move back over 8 feet in front of your truck, no matter how insistently you signal me that I'm clear. I strongly object to people cutting my following distance short, and thus don't do it to other people either.
    3. Many trucks now have a headlight interruptor (Volvo, International and Mack for 100% sure, others I don't recall). If you feel you MUST signal, use this. It momentarily shuts off your headlights or daytime running lights as long as you have the button depressed. If you don't have this, blink your marker lights or hit the 4-ways for a second, the same way you do to thank another motorist for letting you in or something.

Signalling with the high beams only gives me a high-wattage shot in the eye, just as I'm watching the mirrors to see when I can get over. It is very much not appreciated and wrecks my night vision for a few seconds. It's not much better in the day time either, especially with the new crop of high-intensity LED and HID headlights out there.

Then don't pass me with your hi beams or bright foglights on. When you do, you get my highbeams for a considerably long time. eye for an eye.

FL's, kws and Pete's don't have headlight interruptors. Unless it's a new add on. My 16 FL only interrupted the running lights.

And on that note. I have no idea if your a newbie just learning or if your a vet. Some drivers actually have the courtesy to wait for a signal. I know I do.

I feel your pain but not everyone feels the same.

I've never thought of someone flashing hi beams as courteous. I've always taken it to mean "#### you!" or something along those lines.

How about Floridian Cubans that flash their brights in your mirror before they pass you? That's my favorite.

One of these days I'm going to build a device I've had in mind for a while...

It will be a high intensity strobe flash with a blinking red dot in the middle. Just about the time you've fixated on the red dot going, "Hmmm, what is that blinking red d...?" BAM! Four gazillion candle power pops you in the eye.
