The state of TX has tons of chemical plants. Houston mainly, but also the Dallas area.
While van guys are fighting for cheap freight out of TX, tankers are getting premium rates because there's so much work.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the info Chinatown and Chicago!
ChicagoJohn Thanks this. -
A&R has a terminal in Highlands TX. It's actually a fleet terminal meaning it's almost all owner ops with small fleets. Those guys get paid VERY well. Sweet rides too. Keith runs a tight ship there. Only downside is now you have two employers to please, A&R and whatever o\o you pull for. But like I said, they get paid VERY well like that.

I'm a company driver at A&R and like going there. I always get a good load out of Highlands. Just wanted to add that.

Tanker no doubt and chemical based on your location also look into cryogenics.

Doesn't A&R pay their O/Os by a CPM rate as opposed to percentage of the LH?alpo718 Thanks this. -
Well I'm not 100% sure how to answer that. The driver I talked to that runs out of Highlands drives for an O/O and makes a percentage. BUT the Highlands terminal is kind of a different animal. They only have a few company trucks, the rest are fleet trucks. Fleet trucks are more or less trucks from small companies that lease to A&R. One guy owns 15 trucks, this guy might own 3. As for true O/O's I really don't know, but I will find out.
