If they raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour a ton of drivers would quit to go take local jobs flipping burgers and they would have to pay the remaining drivers a lot more to cover the shortfall in hauling capacity. Raising the minimum wage benefits everybody.
Let's talk about the 'driver shortage'.

Oh I forgot to add also if there was a driver shortage every single truck stop in the country would not be filled to full capacity by 5 o'clockDharok, diesel drinker and Midnightrider909 Thank this.

If your saying that after a year and a half of trucking that you have learnt it all you must be waaaay more "special" than we credit you for. No matter what type of trailer you haul. If your not learning something new every day then you need to start paying more attention
antoinefinch, #1don, REO6205 and 2 others Thank this. -
15 bucks an hour it's not gonna make me leave the industry I tell you now. If you figure on just a 60 mile-an-hour average day 10 hours = 600 miles my pay .50/com =$300.00 ÷ 10 hours = $30/hr.
And yes I know maybe not everybody averages this everyday but I do. for the most part. no way in hell I'm going to go flip burgers for $15 an hour. You're joking right? -
And no I don't drive for Heartless Express

I think the average driver makes far less than you do and averaging 60 is really hard. Think about all the hours you spend at loading docks, doing inspections, and fueling that you get paid nothing for. I'm glad you're making what you do but if the minimum wage was higher there'll be fewer steering wheel holders out here keeping rates down.Toomanybikes Thanks this.

I'd think about it for maybe a minute.... Then I've already reconsidered because I'd be this guy:

You can always tell the rookies. They already know it all. Now take a guy with 3 or 4 million under his belt, he'll be the first one to admit he doesn't know it all and still makes mistakes. You guys parked up on a Saturday night away from home, Be safe.
REO6205, Lepton1 and diesel drinker Thank this. -
The only new things I learn is from reading the truckers report. Moving a dry van across the country over and over again is something I mastered about eight months ago. I've only chained up once and I could get better at that but I'm going to do everything in my power never to have to chain up again. Old Breed drivers act like this is rocket science but let's get real. And I don't think I'm all that special I think anybody with average intelligence and some motivation and some conscientiousness can pretty much max out the learning curve at the one-year mark.Dharok Thanks this.

Stop talking like that to any one else here with actual experience worth talking about your just making yourself look like and idiot! But in all seriousness. If you can master trucking in eight months you should quit that and become and investment banker. The three weeks it will take you to master that should be more than enough time for you to become a gazillionaire
