I know the guys in Akron Ohio get $3,500 per person per beneficiary per year in their dental insurance and the guys in northeast Pennsylvania out of local 401 only get $400 per person per beneficiary per year in our dental insurance so it pays to do some research before hiring on
already gone and sedain Thank this. -
How is the hiring process for YRC? In the physical do they make big guys get a sleep study due to neck diameter or BMI? Im hearing that more and more companies are doing that
-
Let me offer my $.02 on YRC here in the midwest. I came here from the Operators union and what a difference. There are absolutely no consequences for laziness, time theft, accidents, destroying company equipment and just refusing to do your job. I'm not sure why YRC management is so willing to put up with this behavior without reprimand at minimum. If you truly care and want to provide good service to your customers you're going to be like me and become aggravated in a short time. I despise people that feel like they are owed something for nothing. You'll also hear how YRC "took" 15% from us when the FACT is WE voted for it and these same people are usually involved in the above shenanigans. Overall I think it's a great place to work but the amount of people that "lean on" the contract to get by frustrates me to no end and I don't see me staying much longer.

it seems as though the situation varies greatly from terminal to terminal as far as overtime, equipment, staffing, bids and morale. -
Morale isn't high anywhere cause everyone here besides new people know how much the competition makes hourly, cpm, etc. BUT most have been around don't want to start over on another extraboard and wait years and years for a schedule. Plus compared to other companies you leave here it will feel like you work in a concentration camp else where compared to the laid back environment at one of these companies. You have to really screw up to loose your job. At the end of the day it's still a good paying job. Lowest in LTL but still better then OTR for the most part.
sedain, skinnytrucker and crazeydude Thank this. -
Inbound freight slowed way down....heard the break-bulk centers dock workers are laying down...if they keep it up we will be hurting at our location. We just lost a huge shipper due to freight sitting 5-8 days after leaving our dock and 2 damage claims that YRC has refused to pay. Customers are starting to complain of long transit times....12 days for a 500 mile shipment for example. I have a hard time believing things will improve much with morale being so low.
