1996 I was transferred from Lousy-ana, to Victoria, Tx. Having traveled, worked, and visited "newly made friends" in different parts of south Texas, I can say that the Mexican culture has been slowly migrating north. Unfortunately, the unwanted culture seems to be comming in at a fast pace.
Illegal aliens bring in drugs, disease, and crime and see our country as an opportunity to make a fast dollar. They cross our borders often, sneaking in through the back trails then blend in with the card carring Mexicans, whom are here to do an honest job. When they commit crime, and "the heat is on" they simply cross back into Mexico, till things cool off. I could site instance after instance, to support this. Many truck drivers, legal, and ILLEGAL, has been caught trying to smuggle in contraband; they have also caused countless accidents due to defective equipment, and hours of service violations. A good friend of our Laredo Tx. terminal dispatcher was rear ended at a four way stop years ago, his car totaled, his injuries prevented him from working for many months. The STOLEN Freightliner truck, that was pulling the STOLEN drybox trailer that hit him was driven by an ILLEGAL alien whom apparently did not know how to adjust brakes. He fled the scene on foot, leaving the other driver broken and bleeding.
Justice does prevail....doesn't it? The ILLEGAL was caught hours later, and eventually deported without serving jail time. And by the way, the trailer was partially loaded with sacked onions, stacked on top of a nice cache of a leafy green substance.
If we have to regress into the lifestyle that I was exposed to down there, simply to enjoy lower prices; higher prices appear to be a better deal to me.
Their influx reminds me of the invasion of the "killer bees", with one exception, .....we are allowed to terminate the bees.

People seem to forget Those of the trucking Industry are citizens of our great county.
And I will give you one point, Alot of industry has been packed up and shipped to other countries for the cheap labor. Giving our jobs away. When You go to the store be it walmart or what ever, I agree nothing is made in the U.S A. anymore. Why not reopen our factories.
Has anyone noticed the homeless, the hungry. How many empty house's do you pass each day, Do you remember that a family use to live in them.
When oil started to rise, who did they turn to Truckers, And they took the the lead. when the storms came who brought the food, water ,generators. Truckers. Some of these drivers had family at home who had know power or water or food, but they were out there for weeks.Helping those who had been hit harder.
With all that is wrong with our Country now, Don't you think we should try to fix our Country first, Well I do. Mexico was givin a fair chance and broke every rule. Alot of us have seen it up close.
I would strongly urge you sir to rethink your belife's.
Why don't you start by giving a U.S. citizen a job.weather his family eats might depend on it.
And sir I would not wear your stupid button so proud.
But then again one might question made in ?
I am a proud American and wife of a truck driver, and spent hours on the computer and phone fighting for our industry.
This is just the start and it feels pretty #### good. -
If you people would actually read HR-6630 you would see that it will never become law as written. HR-6630 states and I quote "HR 6630 also prohibits the transportation secretary from granting authority to any Mexican trucks beyond the commercial zone, unless specifically authorized by Congress." The Pilot Program as a part of NAFTA, is a tri-lateral trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Because there is no mention of Canada, Mexico will win any arbitration hearing with the NAFTA.
Another point that you need to realize is that even if this Bill were to become law, it would not remove Mexican trucks from the road of the U.S.
Under FMCSA regulations, any Mexican carrier with a presence in the US, can operate with the same rights as a US carrier. One of the first Mexican carrier to cross the border under this program, Transportes Olympic, which is the sister company of Olympic Transport and Fernado Paez Transport, based in McAllen Texas.
All of their trucks are dual plated, registered in both Texas and Nuevo Leon Mexico, all perfectly legal. Drivers for Transportes Olympic can legally pick up a load in Monterey, and deliver it to its destination in the US. All perfectly legal, and they have been been doing it safely and without incident for the past 7 years.
And finally, in Congress' rush to ban 100 Mexican trucks from US roadways they seem to be forgetting about the 800-1300 Mexican carriers who were grandfathered in back in 1982. Grandfathering means they were allowed to operate in the US before the 1982 Moratorium and the Moratorium did not effect them.
For more than 30 years, these Mexican carriers have been operating in the US without incident and safely. Why has no one mentioned this?
Oh, and one final thing,
Under Federal law, any Mexican truck, including the cross border drayage trucks are allowed access to the United States in order to make a delivery in Canada. They cannot load nor unload in the US but are allowed to transit the US in order to make their destination in Canada.
Mexico is sure to raise tariffs in retaliation if this Bil ever becomes law. The NAFTA arbitration board has already told Mexico they could do so. And dont expect the American companies who will be forced to pay these tariffs not to pass the added costs on to, you, the American consumer. -
So out of curiosity, are you all for the Super Highway and the National ID Act?
-
-
Ok, that answers my question... Was just wondering if you were really keeping up on all aspects of what is really going on.
-
oh and just to be clear, so that you know what I am talking about.. it is also called the Trans-Texas Corridor.
-
I thought you might be referring to the NAFTA Superhighway that people seem to think is in the works.
As far as the TTC, hey, it's Texas, who cares?
Let's not pollute this thread with North American Union moonbattery. -
I just wanted to find out something, and I found out my answer. I am sorry, but this is our country. We need to keep it that way. If people want to come here then fine, they can come here legally just like we would have to do in their country. If they want to work in our country then fine do it legally and keep to the rules that we all have to abide by.
I am also done replying to you. I did not come in to this thread to be badgered by you for being happy about this passing with a HUGE vote. I am better then that, so I am going to let you have your little fun, but I refuse to play your game anymore. If you don't want to care about Texas, or the rest of the US then I think maybe you need to go find a new country to move to. I happen to care about Texas and the rest of the states here.
So I abide you ado and I hope that you find the truth that you are so searching for someday.SilverSurfer Thanks this. -
I can't honestly believe that this thread has gone on for 7 pages and 2 days and everyone is still arguing with this one person..It is only his opinion..After so many people have expressed their opinion and he dosen't agree with them what difference doses it make.. Do you think you are going to change his opinion at this point.. NO... at this point it is just a constant disagreement..
