For some it is, others it isn't. I'm in the 50/50 camp. It's nice to be home every night, but a lot of the stresses involved in it aren't worth it sometimes. I, myself, am going back out on the road after Thanksgiving.

Unreal, and my clipboard case is plastic...lol, the first time he swung it the corner put a divit, like a small rock hit makes, the second swing, with all his limited might, created a crack at least 15 inches horizontally across with multiple verticals 6-8 inches long...
He had woken up in a rage once before and ripped the sleeper curtain down when it didn't open, he got all remorseful and promised it wouldn't happen again.
He made it about a month.
Pulled into yard, I had told FM I was done with this guy. FM was waiting at door, fired him before he could say a thing. -
Thanks Patty for your advice and concern. For me, poppsensei, I'm divorced, kids are grown, I have no ties binding on me. I love driving, I love driving big rigs best.
I live in my truck, got no payments and so I'm looking to max miles and earnings.
I love moving across all 48. Like Trucker current company is limited unless you're a team.
Unless I find a lady cdl holder who isn't crazy and likes football, I won't be teaming anytime soon.
Probably, getting a mini poodle after the move west. A mini poodle that likes football....pattyj Thanks this. -
Found a Poly driver writing a straightforward running list of loads, miles and totals... Tons of miles all on the hub. Running paper logs. He changes in and out of trucks all the time... Interesting, he's running all west and Midwest, hits a couple short ones and some really long trips...
Averaging well over 3000 miles a week..
He lives in Vegas gets home when he wants... Lot to like there.. -
trucker who you could check with midnite express out of Fargo ND as they are a dry van company and they do go to the west coast as well as all 48. You could also check with Halvor Lines out of Superior as they do go west as well as all 48. Not sure if it is just the reefers going west with Halvor lines or if they send the dry vans west too.
Trucker Who Thanks this. -

what are your top prioritys? i know u said running west, did u mean cali? what about pay, hometime and equipment, where do they stack up with you. also are you fine with 800-1500 mile runs or do u prefer coast to coast if u can get it. different things are important to different people. example, driving for walmart might be a great job but if you dont want to slip seat or run regional then its not for you. thats why i ask, because jobs that look good to one person may not be good for another. people are willing to give up different things, like maybe lower pay for longer runs, or not as good equipment for better pay. some prefer drop an hook, some like to keep same trailer an live load.etc. also if you left where you are now can you go back an start at the same rate your at now? thats one thing that makes me more willing to give somthin a try is if i can always go back at anytime why not go for it.

A driver friend has worked for Danny Herman, he ran most of the 48, without the N.E. and CalArk, he made a decent living and had minimal complaints.DRAGON64 Thanks this.

I have an O/O friend leased to Transport Designs. He is very happy with them. Doesn't get home much as his home is in Oregon. Wife goes with him.

Ive pulled many many loads mostly west coast for many many years. I know just about every company located out west and have hauled for them with my truck and trailer and sometimes theirs,,They all want reefers, they will take dry vans but theres more chances for freight if you have a wet trailer. I know that Gulick located in Vancouver Wa, is the one I would call first. Brian or Glenn at Gulick in Vancouver, they will be straight with you. Something hard to find in a company these days. Good Luck,, a reefer is the way to go.x1Heavy and Trucker Who Thank this.
