So, even if you fail a drug test they will continue to cover you? You're driving around high as a kite and they don't care?

    Somehow I doubt that.

You can't drive around. In order to operate a commercial vehicle...you have to have authority. If you receive a positive on a drug test, the carrier IMMEDIATELY removes you from service. If you're a company driver...your on foot - no vehicle to drive. If you're an O/O...unless you have your own authority, you cannot operate your vehicle legally. You can take your chances of driving home, but DOT will violate you for operating a commercial vehicle without authority.

There is a loophole to get yourself home, but it requires you to drop your trailer where you were put out-of-service. The only time a driver may operate his rig...if he owns the rig...without operating authority is if he's bobtailing (truck without a trailer.)

Insurance companies are only out to make money. They could care less about anything that doesn't effect their ratio of inbound money to outbound payments. Now if you're considered to be a high risk driver...they'll only require you to pay more money. And if you have a serious accident resulting in an extremely high settlement...they'll drop you faster than stink on ####. Example of my point about insurance companies...how do you think driver's which get DUI's are able to continue to drive and get another DUI? They pay higher premiums to keep their insurance.

So, all Mexican truck are required to get insurance through a U.S. insurance company. If they test positive for drugs, they are treated the same way you would be treated.

Therefore, your claim that they would all be hopped up on meth with no supervision is wrong.

I'm off to bed. Have a pleasant evening.

That dog won't hunt. How is a trucking company operating at an extremely lower cost margin going to lose out competing against a trucking company with a substantially larger cost margin? Just because an American trucking company crosses into Mexico doesn't mean that company's cost margins change.

You couldn't find a single American trucker willing to operate a commercial vehicle for under .20/mile. And O/O's could never compete with a company with a labor cost that low. There's no competing with cheap labor...unless you're willing to completely sacrifice your livlihood. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to share a home with several other people.

I never made any such claim. My claim is Mexico is not in compliance with American regulations, and should not be allowed to operate in our country. And having a book comparable to our Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations doesn't equate to compliance. There is proof they still have problems within their system.

    10-4...have a good one.
