Has anyone ever had this "law" tested or questioned by a state CMV cop? ... and gotten a ticket or not allowed to proceed anyway (say, at 80,500 or 80,400 gross)?

I would imagine they would not allow 34,400 on a trailer? Or would they? Looks like they would require the additional weight [over gross] to be distributed between the steer and/or drive axles.

And it's worth noting there are still a few states who do not recognize this "rule", California being the biggest offender to contend with.

I don't run California so that doesn't effect me. North Carolina does allow because you are allowed 38.000 on a tandem.

I emailed Lori about my heavy load. She said they have an agreement with the buyer (CPU loads) that loads should max out at 43,500 (pallet weight included) but this particular load was 43,450 net + 1,280 pallets. She will bring it to their attention that they may be more careful next time. She said they would have made it right with a scale ticket, but I did not feel like bothering with all that even thought the Cat scale was only a mile from the shipper, it would have cost me time I just did not want to throw away.

Stuck here in cabbage.. rookie mistake, didn't check the chains much and they are all tangled up.. can't get them out... Going to wait it out and see what happens. Was actually willing to chain since it's not extremely cold or snowing out.... I see the plowers.. hope it doesn't take too long.. :(

So i have applied to this company and have been approved but havent made them jump yet. i have read this entire thread and seen that you guys are getting the miles. does this company ask to chain up or do they pay you to park and wait it out?
