Great question! Family time is very important. I have a daughter and son. Now in California most small private companies offer weekends off. I make about $1100 per week for a small company. The owner has only 6 units, so he's very lenient with his drivers. I spend Thanks Giving and most other holidays with my family. Weekends are always our time. During the week the kids are busy with school and I am driving. I suggest finding a private company once you're experience enough. Shoot, once you got two years experience message me here and I'll hook you up with a job in Cali that offer two to three days off with enough miles. A lot drop and hooks here. I haven't done a live load in awhile

My company's pretty lienent with time off as requested, most weekends, holidays, etc. And for the most part I'm only out 1-3 nights a week anymore....and even on. 6-700 mile day can usually make it home.

However, my youngest is also 10....so it's a little different. She understands....and can FaceTime me, etc. when I am gone. It's been a while since I had a baby....but if I could go back, I wouldn't give that time up for anything. They're only young one. Just something to think about.
