I recently purchased a 379 pete with a 3406c mechanical. I bought it knowing it was getting water in the oil. I put a new head gasket on it. Still water in the oil. I noticed coolant coming from the piss hole in the water replaced that. Still water in the oil. So after a few more tests including the air compressor and the oil cooler I have deduced that its a liner issue. So I figure time to in frame it. My question is while I have it apart I would like to add some ponies. While I'm at it and have the engine tore down. What should I do to increase and help handle added power?

I would just rebuild and leave it alone, probably 425 already. It will last forever, just smile and enjoy the sweet ride.

If it's a 425hp 3zj build it back just like it came stock hang a good turbo on it and call it done. 500 pretty easy
Oxbow Thanks this. -
What turbo should I look for? Mine is set at 425. With a waste gated turbo. I'm unsure of the model of turbo
