Do you mean local as in home every night? Or do you mean local as you stay in the same area and run teams?

Have you looked into Old Dominion? I think @Chinatown recommends them a lot to team drivers.

If you're looking for a local job with weekends off, LTL P&D is probably your best shot. Look for companies like YRC, ABF, ODFL, R+L, UPSF, FXF, etc. They all start off more than $18, except for UPSF.

If you're looking into unloading produce, look for a local food service company like McLane, GFS, US Foods, Sysco, etc. You might start off on extra board though. Companies like Domino's, Papa John's have team driving. I think PFG also has teams, but it's not local. I think your out 2 days at a time. McLane does use helpers though for their local gigs. But foodservice is not an easy job, it's very labor intensive.

    Good luck.

Move to Las Vegas; no personal income taxes in Nevada.
Night Train Trucking has some type of dedicated run from Las Vegas to Southern CA and back. Those LTL jobs are the best if you want good home time and they're mostly drop & hook.
