Just some more info for whos interested.
3406 A was introduced in 76 i do believe.
It was a pre cup and rated at 360hp.
That was produced thru the years and moved up to 400 hp as it was directed injected later on.
Around 85 the first B came out and was also rated at 400hp and was water jacketed . In 86 the 425 was introduced with air to air. 7fb -4mg -3zj
Not sure when the first C came out , im thinking 92 then shortly after became the peek. Cats first attempt at electronic engines. These were rated up to 460hp.Then about 94-95 the first 435hp E models came out.
I might be out a year here or there but you get the idea as those were all factory rated cat on Highway apps

When we put the 7e pump on it and the timing advance. It would put an n14 Cummins set at 525 to shame. So what I'm hoping to do it make the one I'm currently running ,run the same.

I own a 91 5YG 3406 B 460hp.
Mine was also a factory PEEC.Last edited: Dec 3, 2016
Oxbow Thanks this. -
If yours was a peek then it is a C not a B .
-
Absolutely not. The first PEEC's were B's

that's my valve cover tag.
It has 3406b as well as marked 343kw's which converts to something like 459.7 hp. It also says meets 1990 emissions specs or something similarSAR, Oxbow, baha and 1 other person Thank this. -
I stand corrected!
Ive never seen a B peek. Just assumed they were all Cs. You must have a unicorn engine.lol!
Like i said , i might be off a year or two.
Yours must be a very early production peek engine thou. I know the guys around here liked them when they were running right but a lot of guys sold them off or converted them over to full mechanical latter on. -
I liked the PEEC's. If you knew how to set them and to lie to em to make them think they had boost before they did they done a good job.
I put a 4mg pump on this one with a 18 degree cam in it. I really like it. I also found a TSB showing to use these pistons in a 7FB application for added strength. Though you must use the 5YG cooling jets to make it work. -
If it was 450 I'm with swaan it's a 3408. 425 was all tgey offered in 86 on a 3406
To my knowledge at leastOxbow Thanks this. -
The 7fb came out in 84
