Very nice. Those fuel tanks don't take a shine well do they? Can you do something with them, even if it just a 5 gallon bucket, dawn soap and a broom?
Nice 359's

Thanks. All the aluminum needs attention, after we get the needed stuff done.

Don't mis unerstand me, I like a little bit but prefer a truck that is no defects. Your rig looks really good. It's just those durn tanks that draw the eye lol.Hogleg Thanks this.

What is the best way to polish the AL on these trucks? I have heard of acid washing but don't know much more.

Well with the truck you showed in the picture, it is gonna take some real work. But good news is once you get them polished it doesn't take much to keep them nice. Those tanks will need to be sanded, you can polish them but they won't clean up very well because those tanks have been oxidized for years. Same for the wheels. Once everything is sanded and polished with a high speed wheel, you will be able to hand polish them and keep it real nice.

That white one in the OP is my dream truck (long hood, flat top). If money weren't an issue, I'd not hesitate to find one, fix it up and run it hard. Those V8 CAT's are one of my favourite sounds in the world.

My 86. The only one I have that is on the road since my 85 was totaled the 87 is still in pieces. Though the frame is done.
I was 11 when this truck was bought new by my Uncle. I rode home from Peterbilt in Springfield with him. He called it Big Mabel from the start. I found out years later that was the name of the plane he and my Dad jumped out of on D-Day together in Normandy. They both figured that would be their last plane ride, he figured this would be his last Pete.KenworthGuyNH, Old Iron, ShooterK2 and 5 others Thank this.
