Hello all. I'm considering changing my career path and getting into truck driving. I'm just wondering, what do you guys do to stay fit? Do any truck stops have exercise equipment?

Staying active is an integral part of being healthy and feeling well. I figure everyone needs at least an hour a day of continuous, moderate physical activity. From my view, seems to me that doing this while living out of a truck would be one of the hardest tasks.

I run a step deck. I get a decent workout most of the time.

Well I bring a change of clothes and a kettle bell with me in the truck. While waiting to get unloaded or loaded on the first load of the day I'll do a kettle bell routine one day and run the next. Works pretty well so far.

Some TA/Petro truck stops have exercise equipment. You can go to there website and it will list the locations that have them. I try and walk everyday or every other day for an hour depending on where I'm parked at for my break. For the day you can't get out to do any physical activity keeping a set of dumb bells in the truck can get you a good workout while being held up at a shipper/receiver. Some drivers bring folding bicycles on the road and use that to get exercise.

A lot of it has to do with your posture. If you sit all comfy and lazy all day then you waste time you could use "holding yourself up"... I have no scientific proof I guess but when driving down the road you can use your body strength to hold yourself upright in posture. This, according to what I think, helps burn calories and keeps the metablisim active.

Kind of like doing crunches. And not ending up with a hunch back is an added bonus!

Your 100% correct, if you don't use the arm rest on your captains chairs, you will get chesty.

    See, here we go again.

i'm sorry but i must speak out; It's ok to fat shame here, but if i even so much as joke about ethnicity----(for example, the caucasian mispelling) all of a sudden it's "bigotry."

Please, i'm asking everyone to just stop.

Also, moderators please get on the ball.

Just don't snack on little things while driving / drink sodas non stop. That seems to be what gets most drivers.
Also if you jog at truck stops keep your head on a swivel- It can be pretty dangerous. Good luck on the new career :D
