Staying fit in trucking requires will power . Before trucking I was in the gym 4-5 times a week with a mix of boxing weights and running . I get out stretch do some pushup and do a lap or two around the truck stop . I purchased a planet fitness membership and I carry my gym bag with boxing gear just in case . So far in three months I have only been able to get to the gym 3 times and found a boxing gym during a layover once . Good luck

2 reps of 10 pulling open & closing your hood during pre-trip and post-trip. Bend at the knees for gradual and maximum push force.

2 reps of 15 swiging each of your trailer doors.

30 stair master up and downs on your truck. Don't forget to stretch your legs.

30 laps around your truck & trailer.

4 full rounds of tire thumping.

    50 squeegee swipes per window.

And don't forget to park all the way in the back.

Depends on where you end up. If your OTR, it's just my opinion (don't be offended long haul dudes) but you'll have more time to workout. Bring a kettlebell. Bring one-three and you'll be fine. Do some walking, running, or a fold up bike-great idea I saw on here. As a local tanker driver, I don't have much time for exercise. I've got a nice Trek roadbike and a full barbell weight set but it hasn't seen much use the past few months. I work 65-75 hours a week as a local driver. Dragging hoses and climbing stairs to close the dome lids on top of parking my car a half mile from the truck seems to help some. Also, try to eat well. When energy permits I'll sling some iron around the yard but it can be tough. Just don't set your expectations too high. Do a little when you can. Good luck driver.

I like to stay fit and I only go OTR part time so I do get to exercise more regularly. However, I would like to know if one can workout or do some isometric type stuff while driving down the long road. For example, one could do some check press with the steering wheel holding the flex for say 20 to 30 seconds. This will get the blood flowing a bit more and help with alertness. Don't you all agree as I know you can relate? Now I know some of you may joke that you could do some other stuff, jogging in place is NOT what I had in mind. Nevertheless, I would welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
