So, I've had my CDL for a couple years but I don't have any experience. I'll be starting a company refresher around January 1st with the goal of becoming a company driver. Seeing as I've got about a month before I start, I was wondering if there's anything I can do to help prepare for the job.
I've been browsing the pre-trip checklist because I've pretty much forgotten it. I was also thinking about practicing backing with a small trailer connected to a pickup. Been watching a lot of Trucker Josh vlogs too lol. Is there anything else I could be doing? Just want this to go as smoothly as possible.
Starting a refresher - What should I study?

What company? If it is a company specific course maybe some current drivers can chime in?
Refresher will just be basic maneuvers and shifting, safe driving, maybe with company specifics added in. Start focusing on road signs and bridge heights when you're driving around, and repeat them verbally etc. Aside from that no way to prepare, unless you still need endorsements.Mark_2wain Thanks this. -
Backing practice that you mentioned is a great idea! Get some cones, practice a few different setups.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm just over-thinking it. Just want to do well. Don't want to mention the company because it's pretty small.

Same skills you worked on when you got you CDL the first time. Or am I missing something?

Study for the drug test. Aside from that, starting a new company will be the same with every company. Orientation, drug test, physical, road test and one back. No big deal usually.
