I'm finding all of this information quite useful. I have "retired" from the newspaper business after 29 years... I was a pressroom superintendent. My job was not physically stressful (just mentally stressful!) with deadlines to meet, however safety was never compromised. I was quite interested in TMC (perhaps being impressed by their recruiting videos) but I am not interested in killing myself (or anyone else) and my plan is to keep a clean CDL. I don't know... I'm just a new guy who doesn't even start driving school until Monday (9-15). What I do know is that I'm not going to let some company (or dispatcher) destroy my clean record. Why should they care? It's not their license... or their life.

He still lurks. He is getting in shape, so watch your p's and q's.

That would be Del Rio, TX.
I saw a couple of TMC trucks the other day. Looked like one delivered close to the school, right on the border, the other had a load of air conditioners, maybe going to CA. I have taken the same route.
We didn't argure, we insulted each other. The ape had no reason to insult me, but he works for Maverick and that was enough for me.

hey everyone, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's posted, its really helped with my and my husbands decision. my husband has been driving for CR England for a year and it has been a nightmare, but he's still got a good record and all.

oh, hey, just a question, my husband is a little nervous about the paperless logs system, can any one explain it to me?
-
Hey, anyone with the inside know-
I'm near US31 and I-94 in the wonderful (sometimes) state of MI. Based on experiences what are the lanes (?) like around here? Lookin at TMC and ROEHL both skeptically. Thanks everyone for the info on this site that has kept me outta those TOP(lmao) 5 comp's! -
TMC does not currently use a paperless system. We fill out a paper log for each day. They do track us by qualcomm sattelite system and the results are sometimes matched to our logs.Wingedvisitor Thanks this.

From talking with some of our drivers who live in Michigan I believe that TMC is a much better choice than a lot of available jobs in Michigan at the present time. In that location you should be inside the line haul boundary and promised 46 weekends home per year. Your definition of weekend may not agree with TMC's definition of weekend, but you will be home for 34 or more hours. I hauled a lot of things to or through that area, including wood products from Maine, John Deere equipment from Iowa, Alcoa aluminum from Iowa, and some steel from Portage Indiana. Additionally if you can and will cross into Canada there are lots of things crossing that part of MI to get to Ontario.NukedNative Thanks this.

Lookin for info, also posted on another thread..
If you are lookin to drop a load a day, with averages # 600 miles a load, and 11 hour drive time restricted as I'm told to an average of 55 mph on your daily, how often do you get screwed into not making that load? I now 55x11=605, however if you get backroaded or bad conditions there's no way to average 55 is there? Mind you my top speed to date is 54 mph in my school truck, so I'm still apprehensive above 45, but with all of the traffic variables, where's the allowance for that? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just don't have the feel for it yet I guess.
