I can't speak to Schneider Intermodel tanks, but ISO tanks can handle more pressure then a domestic can. And as @Slim shaaha said, there's 6 other wing nuts on the dome. You shouldn't be opening a lid with 30 psi anyway. You should be bleeding it down using the Chicago valve.

All tanks have more than one automatic pressure relief valve. Older tanks have caps that blow out if the relief valves fail. Newer tanks have a small valve and a much larger one that has a 0.1% failure rate. 30psi is more pressure than needed to unload but within spec for an unload. Most safety valves are set to open at 30-35. Anytime there is an accident involving a driver getting hit by flying metal it's because he forgot to turn a handle before trying to open something.

I'm working on getting some numbers from Bulk Choice. Loadboard opens to me tomorrow.

Yeah I don't see a dome lid blowing off, all tanks have a way to bleed off the pressure, at least the ones at Schneider. So a Bulk choice load board, great, now the company drivers will get the real crap loads....guess after my winter break I will not be going back to Schneider.....QC...here I come.....

I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the guy starting to undo the dog ears with pressure still in it, and got down to the last few and the hinge couldn't hold it all. unless the pumpkin went to the trouble of cutting it to make it look that scary for a safety slide, the hinge material was ripped out on one side, like the edge of a piece of paper when you pull it out of a binder. maybe they were using plant air, I had one customer that gave me an air line that pushed 120, I barely had it cracked and in about 10 minutes I hear this loud hiss from the top of the trailer. nononono. turned that thing down, psi was tickling 40.
